Mirror Pool

A Mirror Pool
There is a better sky.
A secret from the crowds.
No fear of falling here

While drifting with the clouds.

But, as the ripples dance
Across my Mirror Pool,
The clouds are stolen by the wind.
Goodbye my summer jewel.

Inspiration: The skies are always huge and amazing at Holkham, and they always bring to mind the poem by Emily Dickinson There is another sky”. In her poem she claims that in addition to the sky of the physical universe, there is an additional sky in existence.
There is another sky,
Ever serene and fair,
And there is another sunshine,
Though it be darkness there;
Never mind faded forests, Austin,
Never mind silent fields -
Here is a little forest,
Whose leaf is ever green;
Here is a brighter garden,
Where not a frost has been;
In its unfading flowers
I hear the bright bee hum:
Prithee, my brother,
Into my garden come!

Walking past this tidal pool I saw no reflection but noticed that it was mirror smooth - not a ripple on its surface - and thought there should be a reflection of some sort. I walked back, changed my perspective and there it was, in all its glory - my "other sky". Of course there had always been a reflection but from the first angle, all I was seeing was a reflection of a cloudless sky out to sea. As soon as I changed the angle of view I saw the reflected clouds over the land.
I quickly took three shots and then the moment was gone - the wind blew; the ripples disturbed the surface and my "other secret sky" was gone.
